presentations on employment and unemployment by the students.
Introduction
to Pielisjoki School and a tour around the school in groups guided by the
Finnish students.
Making of
Karelian pasties (traditional savory pastry in the region) in the school’s home
economics class.
9th May
Visits to
three local enterprises in three groups:one group to Abloy Oy, one to Blancco
and one to PKO-Prisma and summer job interviews there.
A small
concert by the school’s music classes in the school gym hall.
A short
introduction on Koli and the artist inspired by Koli.
A guided
walk in Joensuu Finnish students acting as guides.
10th May
A visit to
Koli National Park and the Visitors’ centre Ukko where
we watched a multi visual presentation on Koli and was guided through an
exhibition by a professional guide. A climb up to Ukkokoli guided by a
professional guide.
A walk down
the hill to the shore of Lake Pielinen where we grilled sausages on open fire.
11th May
A trip to
Savonlinna and St Olaf’s Castle with a guided tour by a professional guide
there.
