Saturday 28th March

A trip to Namur and Maredsous Abbey
We left early Saturday morning to drive towards Namur by coach. It’s located about 40 km from Charleroi. In Namur, we first went to admire the landscapes that were really cool and quite different from Finland. I was surprised by how much green there was, because I thought that there would not be. Spring was well under way in Belgium and at the rest of the week was already very warm. (The first thing I missed when I came back to Finland!)

After many pictures we continued our journey towards the center of Namur, where we were supposed to visit the places. I would have liked to go around the shops, but there was very little time. After little sightseeing we went to a Mexican restaurant. There I ordered a burger, which was a huge. Portion sizes are anyway a little different in Belgium than in Finland ...

After eating we headed back for the bus, which would drive to Maredsous. Maredsous is an old Abbey, which was built in 1892. We had a guided tour of the Abbey premises in English. In Maredsous, cheese and beer are also produced, which are well known in Belgium. After visiting the Abbey we started off back to Charleroi.
