Monday September 22nd



Monday morning we went with host students to their school.

After that we went to cultural centre of Farsala to present our presentations about European labour market.

  After that we were split up into two groups: one went to see a cotton factory and the other a halva shop and then we changed.

Then we went to meet the Major of Farsala in the town hall.

Then we went with our host students to eating.  At evening we head back to the cultural centre for a Greekish night to dance our dances and watch others.

September 21st

We spent a night at a hotel in Helsinki.Early Sunday morning we left the hotel and went to the airport. Our first flight to Frankfurt left at 6 a.m. We were there for about an hour and then our next flight headed to Vienna. From Vienna we finally flew to Thessaloniki. There we met our new friends from the other Comenius countries. Then we went to eat at the nearby shopping centre. After that we continued our journey to Farsala where we were at about twelve p.m. There we met our host families. With them we wemt to see festival at the center of city.

Saturday 10th May

A visit to Koli

Early on Saturday morning we started our trip to Koli national park and the national scenery of Finland.
We were split into three goups, one went to the see the show on display in Ukko, the second saw a multimedia show on Koli and the third group climbed the top of Ukkokoli with a guide. Then we changed so that each group took part in every activity.

After the activities we walked down hill to an open fire by Lake Pielinen. We fried some sausages and ate rolls and had fun until it was time to head back to Joensuu.

Friday 9th May

Visits to enterprises

In the morning we visited enterprises in three groups. There we had job interviews and a tour in the company.

Concert, city walks and evening activities


On Friday afternoon we had musical performances presented by Pielisjoki school's music classes. Every host and guest gathered into gym hall to listen to them. Students presented
songs like: I see fire, We are the World and Let her go.
Later, in the afternoon, we had a tour around our city, Joensuu. We split into several groups, walked around the city, and watched important monuments of Joensuu, like the building of Metla and the gringerbread house. We students acted as guides.

After those walks we got together with the whole group into the Polarbear-cottage, a place where people go ice swimming in winter. Host students brought little snack with them, so we had plenty of food there. In the cottage we had some games, music and everyone had a possibility to swim and try sauna.


Thursday 8th May



In the first morning we met at Carelicum. We listened to a presentation about education in Joensuu by Mauno Väänänen, Director of Education in Joensuu. Then the students presented their own countries and told something about employment in their country. There was a fifteen-minute break between those presentations when students were able to chat with each other.

We had free time before going to school and we walked around the town centre. We had lunch in school and gathered together in class 17 to listen to a short presentation about Pielisjoki school.

The visitors were at lessons with their hosts before we watching a video about making Karelian pastries. 
Then we went to our home economics classes and baked some Karelian pastries.

After baking, eating and cleaning the students went to host families and had free time. I went to a riding lesson with my guest at a stables nearby.
